After leaving Edmonds where there was ash all over the car and RV from nearby forest fires, we were hoping for clearer skies. No such luck. Alpine RV park was smoky!! And a bit of a dump. The grass was all yellow, the site was uneven with random holes, the "playground" was dilapidated, the bathrooms were gross with spider webs. We got set up and made the best of it.
Next morning we loaded up the snacks and headed to the North Cascade Visitor Center for #allthetrinkets and a trail map. The smoke was discouraging because the mountains are probably beautifull on a clear day. NPS states, "Considered the "American Alps", this mountainous park holds countless serrated peaks ensconced by over 300 glaciers. It's these persistent bodies of ice that produce the eponymous cascades this park is best known for."
Love how curious they are!! Live Science classes!
We stopped for a short hike and some playground time. The old train car was a nice diversion for the boys as well.
Aiden decided that he did NOT want to spend his birthday in a National Park. So, we found another campground about 45 minutes away on a lake. Packed up the RV and headed out again.
September 9th was Aiden's birthday. We celebrated with gifts after breakfast and pizza later for dinner. He was SUPER excited to get Minecraft toys and a Minecraft cake topper.
The next day we spent by the lake fishing and kayaking. The boys loved this park because it was very bike friendly and they could fish. Everyone caught a Bluegill and John caught a trout.
After a few days at the lake, we were in dire need of doing laundry and there were no laundry facilities at this RV park. Nice 18 hole miniature gold but no place to wash clothes. We packed up and drove about 15 minutes to Twisp. found a nice RV park by the river with laundry.
We only stayed here two nights then packed up to head to Big Fork, MT near Glacier National Park.
This is a simple blog about our adventure traveling from Oahu to North Carolina, my random thoughts, the trials and joys of raising two boys and whatever else I feel like writing about.
